Position Overview
Illinois Dermatology Institute is seeking an experienced and adaptable traveling Mohs Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support Mohs surgical services in Hinsdale, Northbrook and Skokie locations. This position provides direct clinical and surgical assistance to the provider while maintaining high standards of patient care, efficiency, and compliance.
The ideal candidate is flexible, highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable traveling to support operational and patient care needs across the three locations. This position is scheduled for four days per week, with the opportunity for a fifth day based on needs of the practice.
Experience in dermatology, plastic surgery, or Mohs is highly preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
- Travel to assigned office locations to support Mohs surgery schedules and clinical operations.
- Prepare procedure rooms for Mohs and surgical procedures.
- Assist providers during surgical procedures while maintaining sterile technique.
- Room patients and obtain/document histories, medications and allergies.
- Provide pre and post-operative patient education and wound care instructions.
- Perform dressing changes, assist with suture removal, and support post-procedure care as directed.
- Accurately document patient encounters and procedures within EMA.
- Maintain surgical inventory, supplies, and equipment readiness across locations.
- Support efficient patient flow and provider schedules.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection prevention, and company standards.
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse certification
- Minimum 1-year surgical dermatology and/or Mohs experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational, communication, and patient service skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to varying office workflows and provider preferences.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between office locations as scheduled.
- Flexibility with schedule and assignment changes based on business needs.
Schedule Requirements
Candidates must be available to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, as scheduled, and at least one Saturday per month. Work schedules and hours may be adjusted based on the needs of the practice.

Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
