Job Summary
This role supports and oversees activities related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety programs, policies, training, and compliance standards within the Vuteq USA manufacturing plant. The Safety Specialist is responsible for promoting a safe work environment, identifying hazards, supporting incident prevention, and ensuring compliance with company, customer, OSHA, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of plant safety programs, policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and observations throughout the manufacturing floor to identify unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, and compliance concerns.
- Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, first aid cases, injuries, and property damage events; assist with root cause analysis and corrective action development.
- Prepare and maintain safety reports, incident documentation, investigation records, training records, and other required safety documentation.
- Support compliance with OSHA, company safety standards, customer requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist with hazard assessments, job safety analyses, ergonomic reviews, and risk reduction activities for production processes.
- Monitor and support corrective actions related to safety findings, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk control recommendations.
- Partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, HR, and leadership to address safety concerns and improve safety performance.
- Support safety training for new hires, team members, team leaders, senior team leaders, supervisors, and management.
- Assist with emergency response planning, evacuation drills, severe weather procedures, fire prevention, and first aid/medical response coordination.
- Maintain safety-related records in accordance with Vuteq system requirements and regulatory standards.
- Participate in required meetings, including safety meetings, root cause reviews, 5-Why investigations, internal audits, customer visits, and cross-functional improvement activities.
- Track and analyze safety data, including injuries, near misses, first aid cases, safety observations, corrective actions, and training completion.
- Prepare graphs, charts, reports, and presentations to communicate safety trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support workers’ compensation cases with HR, return-to-work, medical restriction, and occupational health coordination as needed.
- Assist with education development to include chemical safety, SDS management, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout, forklift/tugger/pedestrian safety, and other safety programs as applicable.
- Promote a safety-first culture by coaching employees, reinforcing safe work practices, and supporting leadership accountability.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date safety records in accordance with company requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of safety, manufacturing, compliance, or related experience preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and general manufacturing safety requirements preferred.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to conduct investigations, identify root causes, and support corrective actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee and incident information professionally.
Pay: $40,415.40 - $60,715.32 per year
