Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity
- Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate care records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support medication administration and help implement personalized care plans designed by healthcare professionals
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to ensure proper nutrition
- Operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts or transfer belts to safely assist residents with movement and transfers
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and infection control practices
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster social engagement and mental well-being
Skills
- Proven experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes with a focus on senior or disability care
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and basic nursing skills including CPR and first aid certification
- Familiarity with working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or memory care needs
- Ability to assist with complex mobility tasks such as heavy lifting and operating Hoyer lifts safely
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents, families, and social workers
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and adaptability in caregiving roles across diverse populations
