Security Supervisor Description:
Reporting to the Director of Security, the Security Supervisor will supervise Security Officers at UCLA Health Training Center. This is a full-time, non-union, hourly position. This position is the core of our Supervisory Team and should represent UHTC and the Lakers in an exemplary manner. The Security Supervisor is responsible for a wide range of responsibilities dealing with building security, staff supervision and event security. Building Security Supervision
The supervisor will be responsible for the UCLA Health Training Center 24/7 posts as well as the normal business hour posts of the Command Center, Employee Entrance, Player Entrance posts, and a variety of indoor and outdoor posts.
· Communicate related incidents to the Director of Security.
· Communicate information received via email, telephone or in person to appropriate parties.
· Update briefing/post materials in a timely manner.
· Complete non-event deployments in a timely manner.
· Conduct informative shift briefings with incoming and outgoing Officers.
· Conduct department’s equipment checks (radios, CCTV).
· Ensure all posts are in order and clean.
· Ensure Non-Event Checklist items are completed in a timely manner.
· Assist with updating the department’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for all posts.
· Have full knowledge of UCLA Health Training Centers Fire Alarm systems.
· Assist with Building Management requests as needed.
· Conduct and investigate venue security requests, including review of CCTV.
Staff Supervision
· Deploy staff to their assigned posts.
· Assign appropriate shifts, breaks, and necessary equipment.
· Conduct periodic post checks and correct any performance issues.
· Monitor staff attendance and conduct performance discussions when necessary.
· Train staff in basic guest service and security skills. Provide corrective action and documentation when necessary.
· Ensure staff is proficient at all assigned posts.
· Actively monitor staff interactions with UCLA Health Training Center staff, guests, clients, artists/athletes, and team members at all times to ensure a safe, secure, comfortable entertainment experience for all.
· Provide leadership and guidance to staff. Serve as mentor/coach to all Security team members.
· Provide timely, appropriate feedback to staff on performance, both positive and corrective. Effectively communicate escalated team member issues to the Security Management Team.
· Must accept responsibility for the performance and conduct of the entire security team assigned to the deployment.
· Exhibit leadership qualities, motivate staff and lead by example.
Event Security
· Know and uphold the Security Department’s Prime Directives, most importantly our mission to take reasonable steps to protect the safety and security of our venues’ guests, employees, and assets with respect towards everyone’s dignity and legal rights.
· Represent UCLA Health and Training and the Security Department in an exemplary manner.
· Ensure event deployments are completed in a timely manner.
· Communicate event security related incidents to appropriate building management.
· Ensure staff enforcement and guest compliance of the venue’s Event Policies at all times.
· Assist with directional and informational inquiries. Serve as an escalation point for complaints/issues.
· Appropriately document all major/minor incidents utilizing Company incident management systems.
· Review, correct and distribute all major/minor incident documentation to appropriate personnel.
· Apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems in order to successfully perform and direct varied complex tasks.
· Perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without the loss of efficiency or composure.
Emergency Training and Response
· Have full knowledge of UCLA Health Training Center emergency procedures.
· Train staff in UCLA Health and Training emergency procedures by conducting random real-life testing/exercises.
· Communicate emergency situations to appropriate building management.
· Track and document all Emergency incidents.
· Act as a liaison with local law enforcement as needed.
· Supervisor Projects as assigned.
· Training Calendars and Organization. Organizing and maintaining the training folder.
· Develop new training documents, using current and new topics, with organized instruction for delivery.
Physical Security
· Conduct daily checks of all gates, doors, access controls to ensure equal and proper placement.
· Responsible for auditing all physical security features for functionality.
· Review daily pass down.
· Send weekly updates to management on the status of work orders.
· Responsible for auditing full-time officer attendance and performance and recommending updates to standard operating procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Candidate must be available to work any shift.
· High School diploma or equivalent required.
· At least 1 year of experience supervising and leading subordinates, preferred.
· Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.
· Ability to organize, write and complete security reports in a timely manner.
· Basic typing and computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) required.
· Must be able to multi-task and perform under pressure.
· Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with building personnel, guests, visitors, clients, and vendors.
· Must have a general understanding of the rules of law and relevant penal codes.
· Must have strong teamwork etiquette.
· Must be able to adapt to changes in assignments.
· Must maintain a high standard of grooming and uniform compliance per company policy.
· Ability to maintain staff, guests, team members, and company confidentiality.
· Ability to perform tasks under moderate supervision.
· Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
· Must be able to walk/stand and climb stairs for more than 4 hours.
· Ability to multi-task effectively.
