Summary
The Facilities & Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our advanced manufacturing equipment and facilities. This position will play a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime, ensuring a safe working environment, and contributing to the overall operational efficiency of the organization. In addition to core facilities and maintenance duties, this role supports trade show and event logistics, including equipment preparation, transport, on-site booth setup and teardown, and troubleshooting during events, which requires multi-state travel and extended stays.
Primary Responsibilities
Facilities & Maintenance Operations (~75%)
- Operate forklifts and scissor lifts to access equipment and move materials; certification required (training provided for candidates who are not yet certified)
- Drive company vehicles as needed to transport tools, parts, and equipment
- Perform grounds upkeep as needed, including landscape trimming and snow removal
- Follow and help enforce workplace safety policies and procedures across the facility
- Assist with coordinating and scheduling outside vendors and contractors
- Develop preventive maintenance procedures from equipment manuals, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with machinery, electronics, and mechanical systems to identify root causes; repair equipment and tools and test repairs to confirm proper function
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and spare parts inventory, and track, resolve, and report on issues related to building, grounds, and equipment, all documented in MaintainX
- Build knowledge of new and existing equipment to provide technical support and training to others
- Work with the Facilities & Safety Supervisor to order and manage stock of replacement parts, tools, and supplies
- Respond to maintenance emergencies, including after hours
- Assist with facilities planning for equipment relocations and inter-office moves
Trade Show & Event Logistics (~25%)
- Inspect, test, clean, pack, and prepare all trade show equipment, displays, tools, and promotional materials prior to departure.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for trade show vendors, drayage/freight providers, union labor, and event coordinators before and during events.
- Safely drive company vehicles, following compliance with all applicable DOT regulations. Company vehicles include box trucks and trucks with hitched trailers to transport equipment, materials, and display assets to out-of-town event locations.
- Execute complete hands-on booth assembly, structural setup, wiring/power connection, display staging, breakdown, and post-show packing.
- Run event errands, troubleshoot equipment issues on the show floor, perform daily booth upkeep, and support booth staff throughout the duration of the event (including multi-day and extended (week or longer) show runs).
- Transport equipment back to the primary facility, uncrate assets, perform maintenance or repairs on damaged event assets, and return inventory to storage.
Hours and Benefits
- Full-time, up to 40 hours per week
- Monday-Friday: 8am-5pm or 1Micro offers a flexible schedule
- Compensation: $25-$35/hour, depending on experience

Requirements/Qualifications
- Willing and able to travel roughly 25% of the time, including multi-state travel and extended stays exceeding 1 week per trade show trip.
- Must possess a valid Class D Driver’s License with a clean driving record (capable of driving company vehicles and transporting equipment).
- Ability to meet DOT requirements as applicable, including successful completion of required drug and alcohol testing and medical examinations
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and heating systems
- Knowledge of EPA and OSHA guidelines
- Experience in workplace safety practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Must have the ability to effectively work in a team environment, have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have effective professional interaction with customers and colleagues
- Ability to plan ahead and stay on schedule despite unforeseen circumstances
- Proficient grasp of safety practices, and the utilizing of the proper PPE
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to quickly learn and apply knowledge of new equipment and systems
- Ability to understand schematics, blueprints, charts, and repair manuals
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with high levels of accuracy
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
