Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Bus/Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, ensuring safety, reliability, and optimal performance. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, supporting transportation operations and delivering exceptional service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery, including buses, trucks, excavators, cranes, and other heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, air brakes, suspensions, and electrical systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, alignment checks, and equipment inspections to maximize vehicle lifespan.
- Fabricate and modify parts or components as needed using welding and hand tools to meet specific repair requirements.
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, forklifts, cranes, tractors, and farm machinery safely and efficiently during maintenance or repair procedures.
- Troubleshoot automotive electrical systems and mechanical systems repair issues with precision to minimize downtime.
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used for compliance and future reference.
- Assist in assembly or disassembly of vehicle components during major repairs or rebuilds while adhering to safety standards.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience or extensive background in heavy truck repair is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, shocks & struts, brakes, suspension components, and vehicle systems.
- Hands-on experience with automotive diagnostics tools and power tools is essential.
- Familiarity with schematics for electrical wiring and mechanical systems enhances troubleshooting efficiency.
- Experience working with heavy equipment operation such as excavators or cranes is a plus.
- Knowledge of farm machinery or industrial equipment maintenance is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining high-quality workmanship in vehicle maintenance and equipment repair roles.
