Overview
Join Mazwi Holistic Institute as an Intensive Outpatient (IOP) Counselor providing virtual Level II.1 substance use treatment services. In this role, you will facilitate structured 3-hour group sessions, support a focused caseload, and deliver evidence-based care to individuals working toward recovery.
This position is ideal for clinicians who are confident in group facilitation, able to work from a structured curriculum, and committed to helping people build stability and long-term recovery.

Duties
Facilitate 3-hour virtual IOP group 3 to 4 days per week using a structured curriculum
Maintain a caseload of approximately 10 clients,
Provide individual sessions at least once every two weeks, for assigned clients including session delivery and documentation
Complete all required documentation in ICANotes on time, including group notes, progress notes, treatment plans, updates, and discharges
Develop and update treatment plans with measurable goals aligned to ASAM Level II.1
Deliver structured interventions focused on relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and recovery skills using curriculum
Conduct client outreach and follow-up to support attendance and retention
Coordinate care with clinical leadership and external providers
Ensure all services meet ASAM Level II.1 and Maryland COMAR standards
Maintain compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, with complete and audit-ready documentation

Experience & Qualifications
Required: Active Maryland certification or licensure as one of the following:
Certified Supervised Counselor – Alcohol & Drug (CSC-AD)
Certified Associate Counselor – Alcohol & Drug (CAC-AD)
Licensed Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (LCADC)
Experience facilitating IOP or group-based substance use treatment
Ability to follow and deliver structured group curriculum
Strong group facilitation and engagement skills
Demonstrated ability to complete documentation accurately and on time
Experience with Zoom and ICANotes (or similar EMR)
Strong understanding of motivational interviewing, behavioral therapies, and relapse prevention
Ability to work independently with accountability
Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in helping people
Work Schedule
Remote position
Flexible group scheduling (to be established with leadership)
3 to 4 group days per week (3-hour sessions)
Compensation
1099 Independent Contractor
Compensation is paid per completed and approved group note
Rate structure includes:
Group facilitation (3 to 4 days per week)
Treatment planning and required treatment plan updates
Required documentation associated with group services
Estimated weekly earnings range from $696 to $2320 or more for large groups.
Compensation is contingent upon timely, complete, and compliant documentation submission
