PAY FOR POSITION: PSE Salary Schedule Level 10 - $ 29.99
GENERAL SUMMARY
To provide specialized guidance and support to district users of the student records database, which includes advising, assisting and training school and departmental staff and providing help desk assistance for parents and students. Further responsibilities include creating custom reports. Providing confidential student information as requested by district legal liaison, responding to requests for transcripts and graduation verification and varied of backup duties and peak load assistance within the information services department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Depending upon the individual assignment, the Integrated Information System - Support Technician may perform all or a combination of the following:
1. Provide support and training to on-line users with student records software concerns; answer a wide variety of user inquiries; provide technical advice to non-technical staff at a level consistent with user's expertise; train new users; travel to school sites. Oversee and assist all users of student records database to verify accuracy and to ensure compliance of all state and/or federal guidelines.
2. Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to student information systems.
3. Develop and provide a variety of training, process documents, memos and other assistance to users of the student records related database.
4. Respond to Technology Service Requests in a timely manner. Customer service and troubleshooting ability, responding to all phone calls in a timely manner.
5. Collaboratively assist in planning and organizing project data requirements for student records.
6. Develop and prepare custom reports as required; coordinate with users on report criteria.
7. Provide a variety of student information as requested by district legal liaison.
8. Retrieve transcripts and graduation verification as requested for former Bethel students.
9. Research and assist in the implementation of system updates related to Bethel's student information systems.
10. Provide a variety of backup and peak load assistance as needed within the department.
11. Attend a variety of meetings, training sessions and conferences to stay current on all aspects of the Washington School Information Processing Cooperative (WSPIC).
12. Maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations, laws, technology and procedures surrounding student records.
13. Serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams. Model appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential information, consistent with district guidelines.
14. Familiar and competent in next year scheduling and web applications such as Educator Access Plus, Teacher Grade book, Family Access and Student Access.
15. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to the Manager of Student Records.
MENTAL DEMANDS
Required to meet inflexible deadlines; occasionally required to deal with distraught or frustrated people.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires visual concentration; exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods; required to sit for prolonged periods; occasionally required to travel between school sites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively. Skill in data processing operations, keyboarding and accurate data entry skills. Knowledge of database operations. Ability to learn the student records system. Ability to generate custom reports. Skill in basic computer problem solving. Knowledge of a variety of software applications including the student records system. Skill in customer service. Proven ability to train others in software applications. Ability to coordinate activities based on needs to produce results. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Skill in providing technical advice and instructions to non-technical staff. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.
Licenses/ Special Requirements
Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation, abuse, injury or neglect of a minor. Must complete training in and adhere to district infection control plan. Valid Washington state driver's license to travel for in and out of district travel.
