Under the direct supervision of the Transportation Manager, the van drivers and home delivered meal drivers are responsible for the safe transportation of elderly and handicapped persons in the community. They provide caring and responsive service and are skilled at perceiving clients’ needs, whether it is a supportive arm, carrying parcels or simply being a good listener. Meal delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the integration of Day Out, handicapped, and senior transportation.
- Pick the clients up at the door and take him/her to the requested destination.
- Provide physical assistance to those clients who require aid in boarding or leaving the van by exiting the vehicle at each stop.
- Observe and report the special needs of clients to the Transportation Manager and LARSO Executive Director.
- Do the required record-keeping.
- Be observant of vehicle warning lights after performing a daily check of the vehicle. Make sure that the vehicles are properly fueled. Check the oil weekly. Check the tire pressure. Keep the vehicle clean and tidy. Check all vehicles on Friday using the safety checklist provided for that purpose.
- Be on time to load meals in vehicle and take temperatures before departure; check temperature of final meal delivered and do required record keeping.
- Ensure that all lunches are complete before delivery.
- Return undelivered meals to the senior center kitchen.
- Present a professional and friendly demeanor to all clients and family members.
- Immediately report to the Transportation Manager and the Executive Director any accident, regardless of how inconsequential it may seem.
- Be able to lift 40 pounds.
- Wear back support when moving wheelchair bound clients or carrying parcels.
- Always obey posted speed limits.
- Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid New Mexico driver’s license.
Pay: $16.00 per hour
