We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our dynamic healthcare team in our Chesapeake office. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and allergy-specific evaluations.
- Administer allergy injections, including immunotherapy treatments such as allergen extracts and biologics, following strict protocols.
- Assist physicians during allergy testing procedures.
- Manage medication administration, including injections and oral medications related to allergy care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients on allergy management strategies, medication use, and lifestyle modifications to improve quality of life.
- Support infection control practices and sterile techniques during procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Obtain required pre-authorizations for allergy/asthma medications and biologics.
- Perform PFTs (pulmonary function testing).
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current certification.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology related to allergies, and ICD coding standards such as ICD-10.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation.
- Experience working with individuals with chronic conditions such as asthma or eczema is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice in clinical environments such as outpatient clinics or specialty practices.
