Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Wound Care Nurse, LVN, to join our healthcare team. The role is mobile, working in patient homes, or care facilities, local travel is required within a 60 mile radius of Corpus Christi. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in wound care management and demonstrate expertise in various nursing practices. This role involves providing specialized care for patients with complex wounds, ensuring optimal healing and recovery. The Wound Care Nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans while educating patients and their families about wound care techniques.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate patients' wounds to determine appropriate treatment plans.
- Perform wound care procedures, including dressing changes, debridement, and infection control measures.
- Educate regarding medications as prescribed, apply medications ordered in wound care and monitor patient responses to treatments.
- Educate patients and families on wound care management, prevention of complications, and self-care techniques.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care practices.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in wound care management and best practices.
Qualifications
- Current LVN nursing license in the state of practice.
- Experience in infection control care is preferred.
- Experience in senior care settings is advantageous.
- Experience in home health is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of pain management strategies related to wound care.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate patients effectively.
- Wound care certification is advantageous but not required. We will provide wound care certification opportunity.
