Carrier Sales Representative

As a Carrier Sales Representative, you'll play a critical role in securing carrier capacity, negotiating competitive freight rates, and ensuring shipments move safely, efficiently, and on time. You'll collaborate with Customer Service, Operations, and Pricing teams to deliver exceptional service while helping grow our carrier network.
What You'll Do
- Source and develop relationships with qualified motor carriers.
- Negotiate competitive freight rates while maintaining profitability.
- Build and maintain a reliable carrier network.
- Prospect new carriers through outbound calls and relationship development.
- Match available freight with carrier capacity.
- Track shipments from pickup through delivery.
- Communicate proactively regarding shipment status and service updates.
- Resolve service issues, delays, and transportation challenges quickly.
- Maintain accurate shipment records in our Transportation Management System (McLeod).
- Partner with Customer Service, Operations, and Pricing to meet customer expectations.
- Monitor freight market trends, capacity, and pricing.
- Achieve productivity, revenue, and gross margin goals.
- Maintain detailed carrier communication and documentation.
- Participate in carrier performance initiatives.
- Follow company policies and maintain the highest ethical standards.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of freight brokerage, logistics, transportation, or sales experience.
- Experience using McLeod or other Transportation Management Systems.
- Knowledge of truckload, LTL, and transportation markets.
- Understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Experience developing carrier relationships and networks.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree is a plus.
