Job Summary
We are seeking a Controls Engineer with hands-on experience supporting highly automated manufacturing equipment. The position will focus primarily on Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLC systems, controls troubleshooting, hardware integration, and robotic automation within an automotive manufacturing environment.
Approximately 90% of the existing PLC code is already in place. The primary controls work will involve troubleshooting and making modifications necessary to accommodate physical equipment and layout changes rather than developing an entirely new controls system or performing a full commissioning.
Candidates do not need experience with every technology listed below. The more areas they can cover, the stronger the fit.
Key Qualifications
- Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting
- PLC commissioning and equipment integration experience
- Automotive manufacturing or highly automated manufacturing experience
- Ability to troubleshoot and modify existing PLC logic
- Experience reading and troubleshooting electrical control systems
- Understanding of industrial communication networks
- Experience supporting automated equipment directly on the manufacturing floor

FANUC Robotics
Experience with FANUC industrial robots, including:
- Robot power-up and recovery
- Robot mastering
- Internal I/O validation

- Touching up robot points
- PLC/robot handshake validation
- FANUC IRVision
- Robot troubleshooting
Vision Systems
Experience with Keyence vision systems is highly desirable, including:
- Keyence 3D Vision
- Profilometers
- XG-X controllers
- Vision inspection and validation
- Vision-to-PLC communication
Dispense Systems
Experience with automated dispense equipment is preferred, including:
- Pneumatic pumps
- Servo-driven rotors
- Servo-driven dispense heads
- Controlled two-part dispense systems
Hardware / Electrical
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and prints
- Controls hardware design knowledge
- Troubleshooting low-voltage and high-voltage control cabinets
- Electrical I/O troubleshooting
- Mechanical troubleshooting of automated equipment
- Understanding of Siemens and Allen-Bradley communication architecture
