Elementary Science Curriculum Writer
Gallopade International, Inc. is actively seeking an experienced and innovative Elementary Science Curriculum Writer to join our established curriculum development team as a contract writer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to leverage your existing expertise in education while contributing to the creation of best-in-class three-dimensional science curriculum materials that effectively teach students across grades K-5, with a focus on K-2. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with seasoned educators, curriculum specialists, and subject-matter experts to develop high-quality educational materials that make a meaningful impact in classrooms nationwide.
Role Responsibilities
Curriculum Development & Writing
- Design and develop effective K-5 curriculum materials that align precisely with state or national standards, incorporating the principles of three-dimensional learning
- Design and develop comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards, ensuring they are engaging and accessible for diverse learners
- Unpack state science standards and apply instructional strategies to address all elements of the unpacked standard
- Write and self-edit student and teacher curriculum materials, assessments, and interactive activities that foster critical thinking and collaboration
- Create curriculum materials that contain accurate, easy-to-use, and understandable content for teachers and students, and are effective at helping to achieve learning goals
- Conduct research and participate in professional development on current educational trends, best practices, and subject-specific content to inform curriculum development
- Collaborate with teachers and educational stakeholders to gather feedback and refine curricula based on real classroom experiences
- Create and maintain necessary project tracking documentation, frameworks, and alignments
- Use AI responsibly to aid in creating materials according to company policies, including necessary documentation of AI use
- Complete other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, or a related field. A master’s degree is strongly preferred
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated success in K-2 curriculum writing
- Experience working in the educational publishing industry with an understanding of publishing timelines, quality standards, and market demands
- 3-5 years of K-2 classroom teaching experience required
- Evidence of successful student outcomes and assessment implementation
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of NGSS standards interpretation and implementation in classroom settings is preferred
- Proficiency with educational technology platforms and digital tools commonly used in curriculum development, assessment delivery, and data analysis
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively across elementary grade levels and audiences
Professional Skills
- Demonstrated passion for elementary science education
- Strong understanding of pedagogical theories and practices, including differentiated instruction and assessment strategies
- Strong collaborative skills with experience working effectively in team-based environments
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting quality standards
- Excellent organizational skills with experience in project tracking and deadline management.
- Able to consistently apply writing guidelines and standards adopted by the curriculum writing team
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
