Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient workflow and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques
- Take and develop X-ray images and utilize medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage patient records using EMR systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring all medical documentation complies with HIPAA regulations
- Perform chairside assisting duties including vital signs measurement, medical history review, and explaining procedures to patients
- Support front desk operations by managing appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling patient inquiries as a dental receptionist
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and assist in medical records management
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry strongly valued
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Epic is essential for efficient record management
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures is required to ensure patient safety
- Experience with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners is advantageous
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices is necessary for accurate documentation
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with skills in four-handed dentistry and dental assisting techniques
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of medical records is mandatory
