American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position at a Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least 1 year of ICU experience and valid AL or compact RN license.

Work in an 18-bed ICU unit within a hospital setting
-
Unit serves neurological and post-procedural patients, as well as cases such as respiratory failure, CHF, sepsis, DKA, and acute neurological diagnoses
-
RN to patient ratio is 1:3 based on acuity
-
Assignments include managing non-vented neuro patients, post-surgery, and high-acuity medical cases
-
Floating may occur to similar units or patient areas, including ICU, med-surg, and ER holds
-
Cerner EMR is used
-
Schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts (7:00 pm - 7:00 am) with every other weekend rotation and possible rare back-to-back weekends

No on-call requirements

Active AL or compact RN license

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience is required

First-time travelers considered with at least 2 years of ICU experience

Experience with bipap/cpap management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, CVP monitoring, hemodynamic line monitoring, titratable drips, and post-surgical drains required

Experience with Cerner EMR preferred

Applicants must live more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify

Responsibilities include managing complex ICU patients with neurological and medical needs, titrating multiple drips, and utilizing post-surgical equipment

Support available from CNAs, receptionists/HUCs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, rapid response team, dedicated educator, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists 24/7

RNs must interpret and document telemetry strips

Orientation consists of 24 classroom hours and 24 unit hours for new or returning travelers absent more than a year

At least one major and one minor holiday coverage required per scheduling policy

Up to 7 days time off approved if not conflicting with blackout dates

Any scrub color may be worn

Free on-campus parking is available

Perm staff must wait six months before returning as a traveler
