NYS Office of Mental Health’s Secure Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (STARC) consists of two secure residential locations (Marcy and Ogdensburg, NY locations) that provide intensive, sex-offense specific treatment to individuals civilly confined under New York State’s Sex Offense Management and Treatment ACT (SOMTA). The only program of its kind in New York, STARC provides risk-relevant treatment, targeted skill development, and a range of therapeutic interventions that help high-risk individuals reduce their risk to sexually reoffend, develop the ability to make healthy choices and become better prepared to live safely in the community.
STARC is looking for dedicated staff to work as part of a high energy team that provides secure residential care and intensive treatment services to individuals confined by the courts due to their risk to sexually reoffend in the community. Every staff member is recognized as a critical part of the STARC team. In addition to secure therapy aides, clinicians, rehabilitative, medical, psychiatric, and nursing staff who provide direct resident care, there are also many types of support staff working within STARC. Every team member plays an important role in creating a safe, therapeutic, treatment-focused environment that allows our residents make positive changes and learn essential skills to lead healthy, satisfying offense-free lives when returned to their communities.
STARC is currently seeking candidates for the following position(s):
Licensed Master Social Worker
License and current registration in New York State as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In your role as a Clinician, you would be responsible for delivering intensive, research-based treatment to help reduce sexual reoffending and providing associated consultation and training to other team members. Strong clinical supervision and specialized training with experts in the field are provided to ensure effective, empirically validated treatment services
Duties, based on experience, training, and scope of licensure, may include, but are not limited to:
Administering tests and assessments, reviewing and integrating sex offense specific assessment information to develop individualized treatment plans, providing sex offense specific interventions to assigned residents in group therapy format and/or supplemental individual sessions, active participation in team meetings, case conferences, staff development, clinical supervision, and documentation of service delivery and resident progress.
