Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support and care to individuals in various settings, including home, assisted living, and long-term care facilities. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately in care plans
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care protocols under supervision or as trained
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding if required
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are met
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being, especially for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s, autism, or other neurodevelopmental disorders
- Follow established care plans diligently while communicating any concerns or observations to supervising healthcare professionals or social workers
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is essential
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities enhances your ability to deliver personalized care
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or manual handling are advantageous
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks confidently
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate attitude towards clients of all ages and abilities
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
