Job Summary Execute daily transportation, monitoring driver geo location, load completion, identifying where drivers are sitting longer than standard, anticipating interruptions based on daily trends, traffic patterns The Plan Controller is directly responsible for adjusting the plan when necessary, caused by customer requests, maintenance issues, extended dwell times, or customer changes. The Dispatcher needs to constantly be focused on accomplishing all the loads planned for the day to meet customer expectations. It is the sole responsibility of the dispatcher to ensure the loads that the customer is expecting are received. The dispatcher will be required to communicate with MHX company drivers via iPad, iMessage, phone, or Facetime with respect and team collaboration. The dispatcher must apply this logic to any changes made to the plan; always thinking about how to utilize the least amount of assets to accomplish the given workload. The dispatcher must always be aware of state and federal requirements when making chances to ensure MHX company drivers are always in compliance with regulatory laws. A dispatcher in a flatbed fleet plays a critical role in coordinating freight movements, ensuring timely deliveries, and managing drivers efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Assigns loads to drivers based on availability, location, and route efficiency.
- Read and interpret plans and be able to augment and adjust plans accordingly using same principals and logic Plans trips considering weight limits, load securement, and DOT regulations.
- Be advised of fleet utilization to minimize deadhead miles.
- Acts as the main point of contact for drivers, customers, and brokers.
- Provides drivers with route details, pickup and drop-off locations
- Assists with unforeseen issues like weather delays, road closures, or breakdowns.
- Works with shippers, receivers, and brokers to coordinate deliveries.
- Ensures on-time pickups and deliveries while managing unexpected changes.
- Handles customer complaints and provides solutions for service disruptions.
- Coordinates with Safety teams for incident reports and compliance checks.
- Monitors GPS tracking and ELDs (Electronic Logging Devices) to align with plan standards
- Plans fuel stops and ensures drivers operate within legal driving hours.
- Works with maintenance teams to schedule repairs and inspections.
- Manages load documentation like BOLs (Bill of Lading), PUs (pick-up requests), DR (delivery receipts), and gate passes.
