R&B Restoration Carpentry, Inc. specializes in repairs and additions to historic buildings. We mainly work on residential properties, but also work on churches, offices, and museums. We operate according to established preservation principles, guiding clients to decisions that preserve the historic character of their buildings for present and future generations. We care about the built environment and follow sustainable practices in sourcing materials, reducing waste and recycling.

We are looking for a experienced carpenter to work with our team of carpenters.
You will be expected to have great hand dexterity and an eye for detail. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of wood species and properties and other carpentry materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.
The goals are to repair and enhance significant historic buildings. We like to say that we make generational repairs. The repairs and installed elements should last a generation before needing to be addressed again.
Responsibilities
- Understand instructions and work with limited supervision
- Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
- Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material according to measurements
- Build and install windows, doors, frames, moldings, mantels, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials
- Occasionally work at height on ladders, picks, scaffolding and lifts
Skills
- Proven experience as carpenter
- Hands-on experience in working with carpentry tools
- Knowledge and experience using traditional carpentry techniques and traditional methods of construction
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (drills, screw guns, saws, hammers, pneumatic tools, etc.)
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
- Good knowledge of English
- Good understanding of basic math
- Good physical condition and endurance
- Trades training preferred
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings preferred
- Clean criminal record required
