JOB SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician is the front line of Pharmacy Operations and critical to our mission to ensure that every customer is treated with service excellence. The position is responsible for preparing medications for patient consumption under the general supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with standard departmental procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Assists health care providers and patients by greeting them in person or over the phone, answering questions and requests and referring order and clinical inquiries to the pharmacist
- Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed medications and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs
- Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and procedures
- Organizes and processes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading, preparing, and ensuring the accuracy of medication orders and prescriptions have been verified by the pharmacist; preparing labels; calculating quantities; assembling bins for pharmacist to inspect
- Maintains records by recording and filling physicians’ orders and prescriptions
- Verifies, processes, and records insurance information, deductible, co-payments, and processes electronic billing of prescriptions
- Process payments using point of sale system, balance daily cash sales and receipts
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma required, some college level coursework in Pharmaceutical a plus.
- Current, valid registration to practice as a pharmacy technician on Guam, from the Guam Board of Examiners for Pharmacy (GBEP) required.
- Current, valid certificate as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
- 1-2 years of Retail Pharmacy work experience required.
- Must clear an OIG Exclusions Search.
- Must be able to deliver exceptional customer service under extreme pressure without compromising quality and regulatory processes.
- Must demonstrate the ability to remain personable and professional when dealing with difficult customers.
- Must be able to communicate professionally verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to learn at a faster than average pace.
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to perform simple mathematical equations in order to process payments and perform inventory tasks.
- This position requires flexibility in work hours, including weekends, as operational needs require.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- May be standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting and leaning up to 90% of the time.
- May be seated for short or long periods of time utilizing office equipment such as a calculator, cash register, computer and other pharmaceutical equipment.
- Must be able to count, pinch, pick, write and lift with or without assistance.
