The Harrodsburg-Mercer County Tourist Commission is excited to begin accepting applications for the position of Assistant Operations Director for Anderson-Dean Community Park.
The Assistant Operations Director serves as a key member of the leadership team at Anderson-Dean Community Park and supports the daily operations, programming, scheduling, events, rentals, and customer service functions of the park. This position works closely with the Operations Director to help ensure the park is operating efficiently, programs and events are well coordinated, and visitors, user groups, and community partners receive a high level of service.
The Assistant Operations Director helps oversee day-to-day park activity, assists with scheduling and communication related to athletics and facility usage, supports event and rental logistics, and serves as an operational resource for staff and park users. This role is intended to be highly visible, responsive, and hands-on, helping maintain a positive experience for park guests while supporting the overall success of park operations.
This position reports to the Operations Director and works closely with the Maintenance Director and other park staff to support the overall mission and operation of Anderson-Dean Community Park.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist the Operations Director with the daily operations and administration of Anderson-Dean Community Park.
· Help coordinate park programming, facility scheduling, reservations, rentals, tournaments, practices, games, and special events.
· Serve as a point of contact for coaches, teams, user groups, event organizers, vendors, and members of the public regarding park operations, scheduling, and facility use.
· Assist with communication and coordination related to athletic field usage, park amenities, rentals, and event logistics.
· Support the planning and execution of park events, tournaments, community programs, and special activities.
· Assist in supervising operations staff, part-time staff, seasonal staff, and volunteers as assigned.
· Help maintain organized records related to schedules, rentals, events, reports, and park operations.
· Work closely with the Operations Director to identify operational needs, improve park processes, and enhance the visitor experience.
· Assist with customer service and help address questions, concerns, scheduling conflicts, and operational issues in a professional and timely manner.
· Coordinate with the Maintenance Director and maintenance staff to communicate facility needs, event requirements, and operational priorities.
· Help monitor park activity and assist with on-site operations during evenings, weekends, tournaments, and special events as needed.
· Support implementation of policies, procedures, and operational standards established for Anderson-Dean Community Park.
· Assist with budget tracking, purchasing, inventory coordination, and other administrative needs as assigned.
· Serve as operational support and assist in maintaining continuity of park operations in the absence of the Operations Director.
· Perform other duties as assigned in support of Anderson-Dean Community Park and its operations.
Qualifications
· Experience in parks and recreation, athletics, event management, facility operations, tourism, hospitality, customer service, or a related field preferred.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, public-facing environment.
· Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with staff, community partners, sports organizations, user groups, and the public.
· Experience with scheduling, event coordination, staff supervision, customer service, or facility operations is preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems; experience with scheduling or reservation software is a plus.
· Valid driver’s license required.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.

· Ability to balance administrative responsibilities with a visible on-site presence during park operations and events.
· Working knowledge of athletics, recreation programming, event logistics, facility scheduling, or community park operations is preferred.
Work Environment / Schedule
This is a full-time position based primarily at Anderson-Dean Community Park. The schedule will generally include weekday business hours, but the Assistant Operations Director must be available to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed to support park operations, tournaments, programs, and community events.
