American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a PCU position at a teaching hospital, requiring at least 1 year of PCU experience and Epic proficiency.

Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a teaching hospital
-
Patient population includes stepdown/telemetry, respiratory, renal, neurological, and post-surgical cases
-
Estimated patient ratio of 1:3
-
Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)

Weekday and some weekend shifts required
-
Rotating holiday coverage required
-
Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity

Uses Epic EMR
-
Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
-
Minimum 1 year of PCU or Stepdown experience required
-
Teaching hospital experience preferred
-
Previous Charge RN experience preferred
-
Epic EMR experience required
-
Skilled in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
-
Experience with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
-
Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
-
Experience with wound care, isolation precautions, and insulin drip titration
-
Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
-
Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references)

Provide comprehensive nursing care to stepdown/telemetry patients including cardiac, respiratory, renal, and neurological cases
-
Perform IV therapy, central/peripheral line management, and blood product administration as needed
-
Manage patients requiring tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, and heparin or insulin protocols

Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Former employees eligible for travel assignments after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
-
Current employees of the hospital system are ineligible for travel assignments at any location within the system
-
RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
-
Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance deadlines
-
First-time travelers may be considered, though experience with strong stepdown/PCU background is preferred
