Labette Health is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Specimen Processing Tech to join our Laboratory team. This role is responsible for receiving, verifying, processing, and preparing patient specimens for testing while ensuring accuracy and maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail is essential.
What You'll Do
- Receive, verify, and process patient specimens for laboratory testing
- Ensure specimens are properly labeled, handled, and routed according to established procedures
- Prepare specimens for in-house testing and reference laboratory shipment
- Enter and verify patient and specimen information within the laboratory information system
- Monitor specimen integrity and identify collection or labeling discrepancies
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Assist with inventory and supply management within the laboratory
- Follow all laboratory, safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare team members
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous healthcare, laboratory, or specimen processing experience preferred, but not required
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer and data entry skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday
