Overview
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will work in a fast-paced clinical setting supporting the medical team with patient intakes and inquiries, records maintenance and basic patient screenings. In addition to basic Medical Office Administration duties, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will assist with injections, blood draws, and assisting a NP or PA in patient procedures.
This is a full-time 10 hour sifts 7:00AM-5:00PM Monday-Saturday 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off rotation
Key responsibilities
- Make appointments for the personnel attending the clinic
- Register personnel visiting the facility for consultation
- Prepare required files
- Manage and control the completion and filing of medical records
- Prepared correspondence and reports
- Maintain training records
- Verifies patient information, medical histories by interviewing patients, documenting medical history, and confirming purpose of visit; Updates patients' files
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; drug & alcohol screening, pulmonary function test, respirator fit test; and reporting patient history summary.
- Assist in injury care
- Assist practitioners during medical examinations
- Explain medical testing to patients
- Takes patient vitals
- Performs phlebotomy service and gives injections.
- Handle any necessary injections (will be trained)
- Conduct EKG's
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Sterilize medical instruments and equipment
- Enters patient data into EMR and assist NP/Paramedics onsite with Medical Record Keeping & Data Entry
About you
Required Skills and Knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent
Required Competencies
- Basic computer, clerical, phone etiquette and customer service skills.
- Must be dependable and reliable
- Ability to multitask and follow instructions in a fast paced environment
- Must be able to pass a DISA Drug Screen and Background Check
Required Work Experience
- 2+ years of working experience as a Medical Assistant required
- DOT drug screen trained (preferred)
- Occupational Medicine experience (preferred)
- Experience completing drug & alcohol testing (preferred)
- Breath Alcohol Testing and Urine Specimen Collector (can provide training)
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (an asset)
Required Qualifications
- Preferred Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or equivalent
