New Model Quality Engineer (Multiple Openings from Entry to Mid Level)
The New Model Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting product development and launch activities by identifying and resolving potential quality and manufacturing concerns before products enter full-scale production. This position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams to evaluate product designs, drive corrective actions, and ensure production readiness.
The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, engineering knowledge, and the ability to coordinate multiple technical activities throughout the product development and launch process.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate new product designs, engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing layouts to identify potential quality, production, and assembly concerns.
- Identify potential issues early in the development process and coordinate corrective actions to minimize launch and production risks.
- Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, quality, and other engineering teams to improve product designs and manufacturing processes.
- Review and coordinate engineering changes to ensure design updates are properly implemented within established project timelines.
- Serve as a key technical contact between product development and manufacturing teams for quality-related issues.
- Investigate prototype, pre-production, and production quality concerns using structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis techniques.
- Lead or coordinate cross-functional investigations for complex quality issues and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate testing of prototype and revised components to verify corrective actions and confirm product performance.
- Review product drawings and specifications for potential quality, manufacturability, and production risks.
- Support product validation and launch readiness activities to identify and resolve issues before they reach customers.
- Track open quality issues, corrective actions, engineering changes, and project milestones using established reporting and tracking systems.
- Prepare project status reports, technical documentation, presentations, and recommendations for project stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, manufacturing performance, and launch readiness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Equivalent engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 0-8 years of engineering experience, preferably within automotive, manufacturing, product development, or a related industry.
- Experience with new product introduction, product launch, quality engineering, manufacturing engineering, or engineering change management is preferred.
- Strong understanding of product quality and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience with root-cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to identify potential risks and proactively develop solutions.
- Strong project coordination and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
