Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated RN Weekend Supervisor to lead our nursing team during weekend shifts. This vital role ensures the delivery of exceptional patient care, maintains compliance with healthcare standards, and supports staff development. As a Weekend Supervisor, you will oversee clinical operations, coordinate patient assessments, and foster a collaborative environment that promotes safety, efficiency, and compassion. Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff during weekend shifts, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and quality standards.
- Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation to ensure accurate and timely records.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate effective discharge planning, medication administration, and treatment plans.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, infection control procedures, and safety protocols across all clinical activities.
- Manage emergency situations by providing critical decision-making support, including airway management and acute pain management.
- Conduct staff evaluations, provide mentorship, and support ongoing training in EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote transparency and high-quality care.
Skills
- Proven experience in critical care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers with familiarity in trauma assessment and acute care procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems including Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; experience with medical documentation is essential.
- Strong leadership skills with previous supervising or nurse management experience in long-term care, assisted living, or hospital settings.
- Skilled in performing patient assessments, IV infusion/insertion, catheter care, phlebotomy, and sterile technique.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; experience in dementia or memory care is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for triage decisions, family coaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration; knowledge of ICD-10/ICD-9 coding is preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and safety standards aligned with NCQA or OSHA guidelines; basic life support (BLS) certification required.
