REPORTS TO: Middle School Principal and Athletic Coordinator
JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coaches’ individual participants in the basic skills necessary for participation in the sport at this level and beyond.

Schedules and plans a regular program of practice before and during the season, adhering to the OHSAA guidelines.

Works closely with the athletic coordinator.

Maintains necessary forms and records.
-
Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.

Maintains discipline to protect student athletes.

Oversees and maintains the safety conditions of the facilities and equipment.

Enforces the district’s policy regarding eligibility and code of conduct.

Enforces self-discipline and sportsman-like behavior at all times.

Maintains communication with parents & parent organizations.

Oversees the duties and activities of assistant coaches as required.

Inventories equipment and supplies and reports to athletic coordinator.

Maintains close working relationship with varsity head coach.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:-
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.

May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.

Excellent observation and communication skills

Supervision of students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways, or on field trips

Assisting students with behavioral/management needs

Ability to interact with a diverse population of internal and external stakeholders.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of contract.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job is evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel and provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
