Position Overview
The Growth Executive is responsible for expanding the reach and impact of Scouting America within an assigned territory. This role focuses on increasing youth membership, establishing new Scouting units, and strengthening community partnerships. The ideal candidate is a proactive relationship-builder with strong communication skills and a passion for community engagement, youth development, with family at the heart of it.

Key Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Partnership Development
· Build and maintain relationships with local school administrators, faith-based organizations, decision makers, nonprofits, and community groups
- Identify and secure churches to establish Scouting units
- Maintain a strong understanding of community needs, family dynamics, and opportunities within the assigned territory
Membership Growth
- Plan and execute recruitment events, including school presentations and sign-up nights
- Enthusiastically promote Scouting programs to youth and families
- Recruit quality parents to be Scout leaders
- Drive membership growth in alignment with organizational goals
New Unit Development
- Lead efforts to establish new Scouting units (mostly Cub Scout Packs / Grade School)
- Recruit and onboard volunteer leaders
- Support the successful launch and early development of new Scout units
Volunteer Support & Retention
- Provide guidance and resources to volunteer leaders
- Ensure leaders receive appropriate training and ongoing support
- Monitor unit health, quality program, and assist in resolving challenges to ensure sustainability and retention of Scout families
- Be the key point of contact and information for Scouting in the area assigned.
Marketing & Outreach
- Support local marketing initiatives and community visibility efforts for recruitment
- Collaborate with council leadership on outreach strategies
- Utilize social media and community events to promote Scouting programs
Administrative & Reporting Duties
- Track membership growth and unit health metrics
- Maintain accurate records using organizational systems (e.g., My.Scouting, Black Pug), no prior experience required, training provided.
- Prepare reports and communicate progress to leadership
Work Environment & Expectations
- This is a field-based role requiring frequent in-person community engagement
- Evening and weekend availability is required to support recruitment and events
- Performance is goal-oriented, with a strong emphasis on measurable growth outcomes
Qualifications
o Associate degree required; bachelor’s preferred or equivalent volunteer Scout experience
o Passion for youth development and community impact
o Passionate about changing lives & building communities
o Proven ability or interest in sales, recruiting, or goal-driven work
o Enthusiastic and confident public speaker who can connect with youth and families
o Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
o Self-starter with a high level of energy, professionalism, and integrity
o Must meet BSA membership standards and be 21+ years old
o Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
o Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
o Competent in using spreadsheets, making phone calls, following up, and being punctual are required
o Current or past Scout volunteer who understands how a Scout unit functions is highly preferred
o Instinctually follow up on progress to completion

· Achieve goals related to volunteer recruitment, membership growth, retention, unit planning, and budgeting
· Work closely with school and church officials to franchise the Scouting program
· Work with volunteer boards and community leaders across the service area
· Serve as a professional representative of Scouting with strong communication and relationship-building skills
· Comfortable with public speaking and engaging diverse audiences
· Sales mindset and ability to meet performance goals
· Marketing, fundraising, or nonprofit experience preferred
· Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
· Must meet BSA membership standards and be 21+ years old
· Must be able to pass a background check
