Looking for a pastry chef to join our team!
Bite Catering Couture is seeking a part-time pastry chef who loves variety, beautiful presentation and catering events!
It’s a role that will cross-over to savory, beverages, and events. If your sole focus/interest is pastry, and you are not flexible, then this is likely not the right role for you.
Expect a part-time role in a company that is organized, focused on a high quality product/ service, creates a lot of custom/ themed items, invests in a well-equipped kitchen with natural light, and is focused on continuous improvement.
It’s a mix of:
- batch production runs for dessert assortments (bars, cups, cookies, tarts etc)
- event specific production (branded, plated desserts, action stations)
- R&D to help us scale and grow for catering needs from deliveries to action stations and better utilize our equipment (e.g., pacojet, combi, blast chiller, tempering machine, anti-griddle)
- Bar product prep (mixers, fresh juices, garnishes, syrups, etc)

- Previous experience in catering, banquet, or fine dining kitchen
- "athlete" able to utilize many different skills and techniques
- Excited about working events and putting on a show in front of customers!
- A flexible schedule, especially during the holidays

Requirements
- Deep understanding of pastry technique and ability to play with alternatives
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Be able to work independently with large batches while managing multiple projects
- Fluent in English
- Able to use Microsoft Excel and kitchen software/ applications
- Solid math skills
- Proven experience in leveraging recipes to create consistently high quality product and/ or enable scaled production
Preferred Education/ Experience
- Culinary Degree from a notable institution with a proven record of high achievement (preferred but not required)
- Experience in high end catering operations and/or fine dining, banquets, or other demanding culinary environments
- Demonstrated experience making lasting changes in places - you've left each company better and stronger than you found it
- You are solution-oriented
Compensation
Prep: Starting at $23 per hour
Opportunity to work deliveries and events starting at $25 per hour plus event bonus starting at $50/event or delivery.
Days, Hours & Flexibility
A commitment of 16-24 hours per week with the ability to commit to Fridays and additional hours Tuesdays - Thursdays. Schedule can be flexible - AM or afternoons - once trained and working independently, evening shifts are also fine. Days can be split into shorter shifts (i.e. 4-6 hour shifts instead of 8 hours id that is preferable). Come the holiday season, expect an increase in hours with the option to flex up to full time in the last quarter.
You also have the option to work additional shifts if you are available as well as events.
