Perform a variety of painting functions on assigned grounds, buildings, facilities and equipment; mix and blend paints according to established guidelines and perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Prepare surfaces for painting by washing, scraping, sanding, sand-blasting or other means necessary.

Caulk, putty, cement or plaster holes and cracks; cut and replace glass in windows and doors.

Mix, match and blend enamels, lacquers, varnishes, stains and special protective coatings to achieve desired color, consistency and drying properties.

Paint assigned buildings, structures, equipment and furniture utilizing a brush, roller, spray gun or other paint applicator.

Perform basic sign painting functions utilizing stencils.

Enter graffiti data daily to laptop computer.

Utilize graffiti removal equipment including but not limited to high pressure steam washer (Hotsy), airless paint sprayers and paint matching and mixing equipment.

May meet with business and residential owners to secure graffiti removal consent.

Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment.

Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:-
Perform rough carpentry duties as assigned.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High school diploma or GED; and
One (1) year of painting experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Environmental:
Field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, fumes, gases, solvents, potentially hazardous chemicals or materials; work at heights on scaffolding and ladders.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for moderate to heavy lifting; standing, bending or kneeling for prolonged periods; operating motorized equipment; and the ability to distinguish color. May be required to work in unfavorable weather or environmental conditions. Shift work or weekend work may be required.
