Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical history and verifying insurance information
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment including A-scan biometry, tonometry devices, and other clinical tools
- Support the clinical team by maintaining aseptic techniques and adhering to infection control protocols
- Document patient information and clinical findings in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Prepare exam rooms and assist with the setup of medical equipment for eye examinations
- Provide direct patient care by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and answering basic questions about treatments
Experience
- Prior experience in medical office settings is a plus but not required; training will be provided
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmology concepts is advantageous
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies is essential for safeguarding patient information
- Experience operating medical equipment such as A-scan devices or tonometers is preferred but not mandatory—training will be offered
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage electronic health records (EHR) and EMR systems effectively
- Ability to communicate clearly with patients and work collaboratively with healthcare professionals
- Must be able to both read and write in English; Spanish speaking is a plus
