Job description
Company Description: StratusIQ is a premier provider of High Speed Data, Video Streaming, and Voice services in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. StratusIQ focuses on Fiber to the Home infrastructure for residential communities but also provides communication services for residential and commercial customers over a variety of infrastructures and platforms. We serve our customers with some of the highest data speeds in the state up to 10 gig speeds.
Position: Full Time - Field Technician
General Description: Field technician responsible for performing residential and business installations, service calls, quality assurance. Along with plant construction and maintenance on Fiber networks, COAX plant, and some DSL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow all company policies, procedures, guidelines and personal common sense when completing work in the field and/or office.
- Perform Fiber optic and COAX main line maintenance and troubleshooting under lead direction.
- Professionally install and verify High Speed Data, Phone, and Video services at residential or commercial locations.
- Professionally respond to service calls to perform problem identification and problem resolution for High Speed Data, Phone, and Video services.
- Properly identify, document, and escalate recurring problems that indicate plant or system related issues.
- Maintain proper location and schedule status communication to dispatch throughout the work day.
- Participate in rotating after hours on-call schedule.
- Learn and assist with fiber splicing as needed.
- Assist with fiber construction field work as needed.
Skills and Attributes:
- Complete weekly timesheets timely and accurately.
- Complete all customer related paperwork timely and accurately.
- Prompt attendance during scheduled shifts. Including scheduled lunch breaks and shift breaks.
- Presentable to customers and able to represent the company in public.
- Good verbal communication skills and able to represent the company on the telephone.
- In-depth knowledge of telecommunication services, wiring, power, equipment and tool safety.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment.
- Intermediate computer skills for troubleshooting, verifying connections, creating forms, working with reports, and documentation.
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and configurations.
- Punctual, regular and consistent attendance. Must be able to work flexible days and hours, including overtime, weekends, and evenings per business needs.
- Able to work outside, on ladders.
- Assist with other duties as the business needs change.
Required Qualifications:
- Understanding of basic cable business processes and scheduling.
- Basic troubleshooting.
- High School Graduate.
- Clean criminal and driving record.
- 1-5 years working with wiring installations.
