Job Title: 1st Shift Fabrication Assistant
Location: Columbus, NE
Pay: $18.00/hour

Under general supervision, the 3rd Shift Fabrication Assistant supports the production of metal components from start to finish. This is a multi-skilled role where you’ll operate fabrication machinery, assist experienced fabricators, and ensure all parts meet strict quality and safety standards.
Fabrication & Machinery Operations
Read and interpret blueprints to determine accurate measurements and specifications
Operate press brakes and laser machines to cut, bend, and shape metal
Set up machines, load/unload materials, and produce programmed parts
Optimize efficiency during changeovers (tools, jigs, equipment, carts)
Quality & Precision
Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, gauges, and protractors
Inspect welds and prepared surfaces to ensure quality standards are met
Material Handling & Safety
Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move materials (certification required)
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a strong safety-first mindset
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as directed
Teamwork & Productivity
Complete required documentation accurately
Manage time effectively to meet production deadlines
Collaborate with team members and assist in other areas as needed
Education & Experience
Skills & Abilities
Strong blueprint reading and problem-solving skills
Solid math skills (fractions, decimals, basic operations)
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Working knowledge of fabrication tools and equipment
Ability to obtain OSHA-required forklift certification
Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and communication
Frequently lift 50 lbs; occasionally up to 60 lbs
Stand and walk for extended periods
Use hands and fingers for precise tasks
Occasionally climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl
Wear required personal protective equipment at all times
