Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Woodswalk Counseling — Fort Collins, CO | Hybrid
W-2 employee | Part-time or full-time | Build your caseload to the level you want | 60% of collected revenue
Build the practice you want to have.
Woodswalk Counseling is looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who wants time to know their patients, provide meaningful psychotherapy, and practice psychiatry without a high-volume medication-management model.
This is intentionally a build-to-your-desired-level role. Whether your goal is 8 clinical hours a week, 15, 25, or something in between, we'll help you build toward a sustainable caseload that fits the way you want to practice.
Your schedule will grow over time through internal referrals, insurance networks, directories, and practice marketing. We handle credentialing, billing, scheduling support, and advertising.
The clinical model
Standard follow-up appointments are scheduled in 60-minute blocks, with approximately 50 minutes of direct patient care.
Visits are designed to include both medication management and psychotherapy, with enough time to understand what is happening in a patient's life and maintain an ongoing therapeutic relationship.
We're specifically looking for a PMHNP who wants psychotherapy to remain a meaningful part of psychiatric practice.
Compensation and benefits
This is a W-2 employee position with compensation equal to 60% of collected revenue for services you provide.
Based on our current contracted insurance rates, established clinical hours generally produce approximately $80–$110 per clinical hour, though reimbursement varies by insurance plan and service.
Additional benefits include:
- Malpractice insurance reimbursement
- Colorado paid sick leave
- PTO eligibility at 24+ hours per week
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits at 24+ hours per week
The role
You will:
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, and psychotherapy
- Prescribe psychiatric medications, including controlled substances when clinically appropriate
- Offer primarily telehealth care throughout Colorado, with occasional in-person care in Fort Collins if prescribing controlled substances as required by law
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Select and document appropriate psychiatric CPT and ICD-10 codes for services provided
- Coordinate care with Woodswalk therapists and outside providers when appropriate
What we're looking for
You may be a good fit if you:
- Prefer relationship-based care over brief medication checks
- Want psychotherapy to remain an important part of your work
- Want control over the eventual size of your caseload
- Enjoy working independently while having colleagues available for consultation
- Value thoughtful clinical decision-making, careful documentation, and ethical coding
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Colorado RN and APRN licenses in good standing
- PMHNP-BC certification through the ANCC
- Current Colorado prescriptive authority
- Current DEA registration
- Ability to prescribe controlled substances in Colorado
- Demonstrated proficiency with psychiatric CPT and ICD-10 coding
- Ability to maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
