Principal Investigator – Clinical Research Trials Gilbert, AZ | Full-time (part-time transition considered for the right candidate)
About Us
Spectrum Research Institute is a growing clinical research site affiliated with Southeast Valley Gastroenterology Consultants (SEVG), one of the largest and most established GI practices in the Phoenix metro area (est. 1993, 24 providers). Spectrum launched its first trial in January 2026 and is rapidly building a focused pipeline in liver and fatty liver disease research, backed by the SEVG team and full endoscopy/infusion infrastructure.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a Principal Investigator to lead our clinical trial program as our founding PI transitions toward retirement. This is a chance to build and shape a research site's PI function from an established, well-resourced foundation — not start from scratch. The outgoing PI will remain engaged as sub-Investigator through the transition to ensure continuity for our sponsor relationships.
What You'll Do
- Serve as Principal Investigator on active and upcoming clinical trials, with a growing focus on liver/fatty liver disease studies
- Partner with our sub-Investigator team and hepatology group on patient identification, enrollment, and protocol adherence
- Represent Spectrum Research Institute to sponsors and CROs as a credible, engaged PI
- Help shape site strategy as we pursue additional trials in liver disease GI research
What We're Looking For
- Mid-career physician (MD/DO) meaningful trial experience, not entry-level and not at the very end of a research career
- 5-10+ completed clinical trials as PI or sub-I preferred; prior fatty liver disease/NASH/MASH trial experience is a strong plus
- Open to generalists (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine) or specialists — board certification in a specific specialty not required
- Active or obtainable Arizona medical license
- Comfortable working on-site in Gilbert, AZ
Compensation
Competitive base salary commensurate with specialty and experience, plus performance-based incentive structure. Open to discussing bonus models tied to study/site productivity for the right candidate.
Why Spectrum
- Backed by an established GI group’s reputation, infrastructure, and patient base
- Ground-floor opportunity to shape a growing research program in a high-demand therapeutic area
