Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structured Cabling Lead to oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of complex telecommunications and data cabling systems. Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, installation, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems including Cat5, Cat6, fiber optic cables, and low-voltage electrical wiring in commercial and industrial environments.
- Supervise and mentor field service technicians during cable termination, equipment setup, and system testing to ensure quality standards are met.
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings to accurately execute network wiring and communication system installations.
- Perform fiber splicing, fiber optic systems installation, and optical testing to ensure optimal performance of high-speed data networks.
- Utilize diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters, network testers, telecommunication testing equipment, and RF testers to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Coordinate with clients to understand project requirements, provide technical guidance on telecommunications systems including VoIP, Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and Avaya systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code) and local electrical codes while maintaining safety protocols during all installation activities.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, LAN/WAN configurations, and network wiring practices.
- Proficiency in telecommunications systems installation involving VoIP telephony, radio frequency (RF) testing, and telecommunication testing equipment.
- Strong experience with fiber splicing techniques, fiber optic cable installation, and troubleshooting fiber optic systems.
- Familiarity with schematics interpretation for structured cabling layouts and electrical wiring diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, power tools for cable routing and termination.
- Technical proficiency in configuring Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya communication systems, and low-voltage electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose issues using diagnostic tools; perform equipment repair or replacement as needed.
- Knowledge of low-voltage electrical wiring standards including NEC regulations; electrical experience is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients during project execution and troubleshooting phases.
- Service technician experience in data centers or large-scale network environments is highly desirable.
