Position Title Bookkeeper
Office: Center of Concern - Anniston
Immediate Supervisor: Beverly Hill
Position Status: Part-time Regular, no Benefits
(Regular) Work Schedule Monday – Friday , 20 hours per week
General Summary:
The Bookkeeper must be a team player who shares and participates in the vision and goals of the Bishop and of the Diocese, while following all diocesan and office policies, procedures and regulations.
The person in this position is called to provide a Christian, compassionate, and professional personality in all aspects of this position, with complete confidentiality. The responsibilities of this position frequently involve sensitive matters necessitating discretion.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for Accounts Payable and Receivable.
Prepare all record deposits
Collaborate with Diocesan Finance Office in preparation of necessary documents
Prepare documentation for donors for tax purposes as well as thank you notes
Produce necessary documents/statements as needed for reports to Director, Dioceses and Advisory Board
Follow up with vendors for updated information
Assist with grant applications and follow-up documentation for grants
Assists with monthly Newsletter
Assist with preparation, maintenance and distribution of general correspondence
Assist with stocking and ordering office supplies
Responsible for contacting clients and vendors for any follow-up information
Maintain records and files for the required retention period
Prepare bulletin updates for the local Catholic Churches
Perform other duties as needed by Director
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High School Diploma required; training/education beyond high school desired
Required 1+ years’ experience in related field of accounting
Understanding of accounting procedures and financial statements
Working knowledge of QuickBooks, Word, and Excel spreadsheets
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good organizational skills
Ability to remain calm at stressful times
Ability to show respect to Director, clients, and visitors
Ability to multi-task
