Principal Objective of Position:
The Mechanic position conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance services.

Maintain preventative maintenance schedules on all Company vehicles

Evaluate equipment and determine whether to repair in-house or send it to an outside vendor for repair

Perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system maintenance/repair on diesel and conventional engine and vehicular systems

Troubleshoot and determine necessary repairs

Assess repairs needed and determine who will perform the repairs

Disassemble, inspect, repair and/or replace components

Reassemble systems to specified tolerances

Perform scheduled A, B, & D preventative maintenance schedules

Inspect vehicles for safety

Perform “demand” type maintenance as needed

Perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, suspensions, drive-train components, electrical, air conditioning, air brakes, computer diagnostics and basic welding
Other Responsibilities:
- Ensure all road vehicles meet DOT specifications

Monitor fleet equipment to ensure they are updated regarding license plates, registrations, and DOT inspections

Purchase supplies and parts for equipment repairs and shop use

- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent, preferred
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
