OBJECTIVE
The Sr. HSE Manager position is responsible for providing support and leadership for the company’s HSE programs and processes. Supervises and coordinates the work of HSE Supervisors to ensure compliance with government laws and regulations and company policies. Ensures practical, cost-effective measures are in place within the workplace, and a safety culture exists to ensure employees are accountable and responsible for health, safety and environmental conditions and practices. Analyzes and interprets HSE periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Makes recommendations to comply with government-mandated, client requirements, and HSE regulations. Develops procedures and programs based on regulatory and/or client requirements. Effectively presents information and responds to questions or concerns from employees, managers, clients, regulatory agencies, and the public.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Developing and executing thorough health, safety, and environmental policies in compliance with both legal requirements and corporate standards.
· Performing comprehensive risk assessments to recognize potential hazards and formulating proactive measures to mitigate risks.
· Arranging safety training for staff to promote their awareness and comprehension of safety protocols and environmental regulations.
· Ensuring adherence to policies, conducting on-site inspections, and compiling comprehensive reports based on observations.
· Overseeing emergency response efforts and performing thorough investigations following incidents to determine root causes and develop preventive strategies.
· Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g., fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, occupational diseases, and waste management.
· Maintaining current knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements related to health, safety, and environmental matters that impact the organization.
· Collaborating with internal leadership and external regulatory bodies to maintain compliance standards.
· Conducts incident investigations into workplace incidents, determines Root Cause Analysis and CAPA; responsible for implementing sustainable CAPA measures to avoid future occurrences; ensures all incidents are entered into the company’s Incident Management System in accordance with Incident Reporting and Investigation procedures.
· Exercises independent judgment and discretion in making recommendations to local management teams and HSE Operations Management in incident investigations, regulation and enforcement of related HSE matters.
· Oversees the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team while actively promoting and aligning with the established leadership objectives.
· Develop innovative Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs that align with Nine's objectives and initiatives, fostering a safer and more efficient environment for Nine Energy Services.
· Oversight of East Texas districts and assistance in managing daily Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) operations to support the HSE supervisor.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in an HSE management or supervisory role required
- Minimum 1+ years’ experience as an Investigation Team Leader role required (TapRoot Certification preferred)
- Knowledge and experience in the Oil and Gas Industry preferred
- Experience in insurance claims preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety, and Health preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office computer programs, including Excel, Word, and other programs, is necessary.
