Overview
Austin Plastic Surgeon is looking for a full-time Operating Room/Recovery RN to join our outpatient surgical team and assist surgeons during operations and other medical procedures. The OR RN will oversee the safe, effective, and efficient care of patients in the operating room by sterilizing equipment, preparing rooms, and assessing patients before and after surgery. The successful candidate must be able to work Saturdays and some weekday shifts.
Responsibilities
- Apply aseptic and sterile techniques to medical instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery.
- Evaluate surgical patients prior to surgery and in postoperative phases.
- Alleviate patients’ concerns by answering questions and providing postoperative care instructions.
- Prepare patients for surgery by disinfecting their skin at the operation site and helping positioning them on the operating table.
- Assist surgeon during procedures with duties such as passing medical equipment and opening sterile items to the team.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs in the recovery room and managing patient care.
- Will review patient discharge instructions with their caregiver.
- Update patient files and medical records as needed.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Nursing, Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
- Valid licensed Texas Nursing license (RN).
- Preferred previous experience as a nurse providing perioperative care or experience in a critical care area.
- Cool tempered with emotional stamina.
- Strong understanding of patient safety.
- Strong communicator with a friendly personality and have the ability and physical stamina to provide a high level of care under pressure.
