Job Title: Elementary Assistant Principal
Reports to: Building Principal
Purpose/Function: The purpose of the elementary assistant principal position is to
assist the school principal in the overall administration of the school instructional
program and building level operations.
Qualifications: Building level administrator certification
Requirement:
Valid Indiana Teaching License
- Currently/Actively enrolled at the time of the application in a program for an
Administrator’s License
Major Responsibilities/Duties:
Instructional Management
Participates in the development and evaluation of education programs.
School/Organizational Climate
Promote and help maintain a positive and effective learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff.
- Collaborate with school staff on student discipline and social-emotional needs.
Personnel Management
Assist building principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new building
staff.
- For those teachers designated by the principal, the assistant principal shall
conduct effective teacher evaluations in accordance with the district instructional
evaluation plan.
- Assists with substitute teacher acquisition and placement on a daily basis.
Administration/Facilities Management
Supervise operations in the principal’s absence.
- Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class
schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activities.
