POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting the Vice President & Chief Financial Officer with essential accounting functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensuring accurate and timely customer invoicing, processing of journals, and processing supplier invoices.
- Entering Customer receipts, Supplier payments and other bank transactions and performing bank reconciliations for review.
- Ensuring that DAXKO accounts are correctly input.
- Reviewing and reconciling Debtor and Creditor Accounts (including prepayments and accruals) Performing a variety of accounting reconciliations including group intercompany accounts.
- Performing Credit control activities and providing information to support cash flow forecasting and management.
- Supporting the production of the monthly Fixed Costs Report, monthly Income and forecasting for projects, and monthly reports
- Performing an initial review to identify and escalate reporting discrepancies or control issues.
- Completing monthly tasks checklists, particularly to ensure that processing and reconciliations and controls are complete.
- Assisting with preparing Year-end audit files, ensuring all information and supporting documents are electronically available, in accordance with the agreed timeframe
- Collating and referencing supporting documentation for Independent grant donor reviews and audits
- Assisting others in the Finance Team with any other duties as required, including the upkeep of electronic files.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 3 years Finance work experience, 2 years of accounting and reporting
- Ability to understand contractual terms and requirements for documenting of transactions
- Exemplary communication skills (written and verbal) are needed, including the ability to present in front of large groups, interact with and motivate stakeholders, represent the organization at community events and meetings, and write professionally in emails, etc.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people (staff, families, youth, etc.) and a track record of building and sustaining meaningful relationships with individuals and teams from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Commitment to professionalism including high expectations and standards of quality, a strong work ethic and personal code of ethics, accountability, and dependability.
- Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to set effective objectives for teams and individuals and take ownership for results.
- Demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, inclusiveness, and empowerment.
- Willing to provide leadership daily in a normal eight-hour day and occasional night and weekend hours. This position does not provide for remote work options.
- Certifications: As outlined in BGCMS Training Academy upon hire or within allocated training timelines.
- This position requires a valid driver’s license and will require frequent local travel.
