Job Summary
Join our dynamic retail team as a Store Sales Associate, where your enthusiasm and expertise will drive exceptional customer experiences and sales success. In this role, the Store Sales Associate performs ticket sales, store merchandise sales, and other activities in relation to regular museum operations, special events, tours, and field trips. Perform activities in relation to the day-to-day operations of the Museum store
Responsibilities
- Greeting visitors and providing information about the museum (tour schedule, ticket prices, etc.), assist museum visitors, answering questions and assisting in the resolution of any visitor-related problems or concerns.
- Provide excellent Customer Service.
- Process ticket sales and store merchandise sales transactions including credit card processing.
- Interact, via radio (Walkie-Talkie) or in-person, with dispatchers, operators and tour guides in support of rides, tours, and other visitor-related activities.
- Perform minor janitorial duties to ensure that the museum’s public areas are kept in a neat and clean condition. This responsibility includes restocking restroom supplies and addressing cleanliness issues (trash, spills, etc.) that might occur. If the mess/need is severe, report the issue to the Maintenance person on duty.
- Answer the telephone including providing callers with information about museum activities (hours of operation, etc.)
- Provide support and supervision to volunteers, interns or other staff working in the Museum store.
- Stock and attractively display merchandise. Ensure these displays remain neat and clean.
- Interact with Customers in relation to their selection and purchase of store merchandise. Process sales and returns of store merchandise (including the processing of online orders).
- Greet parties, tours and groups and visitors for the events, etc.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Skills
- Ability to work with the public in a visitor/retail environment.
- Ability to work closely with volunteers.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- The ability to follow verbal and or written instructions.
- Prior register and cash handling experience are preferred. Training will be provided for the Point-of-Sale System
Requirements to be Hired and Maintain the Position:
- Obtain and maintain the appropriate background check clearances as defined in the Museum’s policy for Volunteer and Employee Background Checks
- Maintain a Business Casual appearance. A name tag will be provided. The Store Clerk is expected to maintain a neat and clean appearance that is consistent with a retail/visitor services environment
- Have a flexible schedule that allows you to work during periods (including weekends and evenings) that is consistent with the Museum’s Store Schedule and Events
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
