Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Building Technician to join our dynamic facilities team. This role is essential in ensuring the optimal operation, safety, and maintenance of our building infrastructure and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, including mechanical, electrical, and facility maintenance expertise, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues efficiently. Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on building systems, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC components
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems using schematics, diagrams, and tools such as ohmmeters and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Conduct welding tasks and perform residential painting as needed to maintain facility aesthetics and safety standards
- Read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings to diagnose issues accurately
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to document work orders, track maintenance activities, and manage inventory
- Supervise or assist with facilities maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
- Lead or support team efforts in manufacturing environments by maintaining equipment uptime and optimizing operational workflows
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal client needs promptly and professionally
- Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and conducting regular safety inspections
- Assist in training or supervising junior technicians or apprentices to foster skill development and team cohesion
Skills
- Extensive experience with electrical systems, including troubleshooting with schematics and using tools such as ohmmeters
- Proficiency in mechanical knowledge related to building systems, machinery, and equipment repair
- Hands-on experience with welding techniques for structural or equipment repairs
- Strong understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for automated system troubleshooting
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance practices within manufacturing or residential environments
- Ability to read technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings accurately
- Experience with CMMS software for work order management and inventory control
- Excellent supervisory or leadership skills with prior supervising experience preferred
- Effective communication skills in English for clear documentation and team collaboration
- Familiarity with residential painting techniques for aesthetic upkeep of facilities
