JOB DESCRIPTION
Full-Time/Part-time Direct Care Staff
Direct care staff will be called Residential Service Counselors. As a Residential Service Counselor for our agency, you must have the knowledge, skills, and ability to do the following:
1. Knowledge of the characteristics and concepts of populations with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illnesses, and related physical conditions and treatment approaches for residents.
2. Knowledge of simple direct care responsibilities, first-aid, behavior management, personal and environmental hygiene.
3. Ability to implement and follow the policies and procedures of the department, facility or service entity.
4. Ability to engage in the care, and life skills training of clients.
5. Ability to teach clients proper eating, bathing, dressing, grooming and other self- care skills.
6. Ability to participate with professional staff in the design and implementation of training and programmatic activities.
7. Ability to observe, record and report clients' behavior, attitude and physical condition.
8. Ability to perform simple math and communicate effectively, both orally and written.
9. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with clients and other employees.
10. Provide 24-hour supervision to clients
11. Prepare and cook well balanced meals
12. Dispense medication to clients and document
13. Ensure safety of clients
14. Attend and transport clients to appointments and activities
15. Other reasonable duties asked
Pay Benefit- $14.50 $17.00 (Salary will depend on years of experience)
Minimum Qualifications Training: High school diploma or GED required and at least one-year experience working with the population. *Must have updated and proof of Medication Management Training*. Must be 21 years of age.
