Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive successful project planning from the ground up. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings, and collaborating closely with clients, suppliers, and project managers. Your expertise will help ensure projects are financially viable while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This position reports directly to the VP of Preconstruction.
Estimating:
1. Participate in Preconstruction Team meetings to analyze each project and the appropriate strategies
2. Work directly with Sr. Estimator/Director of Preconstruction on managing bid calendar
3. Participate in Bid Progress Review meetings with Estimating Department & President/CEO
4. Assist in analyzing Risk Exposure for all projects
5. Perform detailed qualitative & quantitative takeoffs from construction documents
6. Perform logistic studies for general condition pricing
7. Create bid solicitations and send out RFP’s to subs and vendors
8. Create, Send & Review conceptual budget packages with clients through Procore
9. Assist in managing Procore Bidding Sector (Documents, ITB’s, Correspondences)
10. Work to ensure sufficient bid coverage
11. Participate in updating contractor bidders list and soliciting new bidders
12. Log document all contract documents, addendums and supplemental information
13. Coordinate with Accounting with ordering insurance, bonds, and qualifications
14. Assist in coordinating with Operations/Accounting on contract templates if applicable
15. Maintain proficiency in all software relevant to estimating
16. Work with Sr. Estimator to manage bid schedule
17. Perform detailed qualitative & quantitative takeoffs from construction documents
18. Develop & Maintain RFI’s during Preconstruction with client
19. Document Control & Filing of Subcontractor proposals in Server
20. Maintain Bidding Spreadsheets, Leveling of Bids, Qualifications & Clarifications of Bids
21. Attend Mandatory Site Visits, Pre-Bid Meetings as required
Design:
1. Manage Design-Build or Hybrid Design-Assist Projects during Preconstruction process
2. Manage Consultants on dates/deliverables, constructability, cost-control, and “permit-ability” throughout the design process to bidding
3. Manage Tracking Design Progress on bi-weekly design progress reports if required
4. Assist VP & Accounting with preparing invoices & tracking payment
5. Assist in preparing & managing Preconstruction Agreements
6. Requires strong management & communication skills for effective precon management
Project Transition/Handoff:
1. Participate in Project Handoff Process from Preconstruction to Operations
2. Collaborate & Communicate with Operations during design development, bidding and hand off to assist in the manpower metrics & predict future needs
3. Review Subcontractor Scopes of Work with PM & Sr. Estimator prior to subcontract execution
4. Collaborate & Communicate with Owner, Operations, Subcontractors during Construction process to ensure a successful and profitable project (As needed)
5. Assist PM’s with Procurement activities
6. Assist with Permitting activities
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
