This role is based onsite and offers the chance to make an impact throughout the academic year, working with both special education and general education students ranging from mild to severe needs. As an itinerant interpreter, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with teams at multiple school sites, providing vital communication access and support to students and staff.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Authorization for educational sign language interpreting
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (as mandated by CDE requirements)
- Prior experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings, covering special education and general education
- Ability to adapt quickly to various environments and student needs
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Proficiency in both American Sign Language (ASL) and English
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, educators, and staff in classroom and extracurricular settings
- Provide interpretation services to support student participation in all aspects of the school day, including both academic and non-academic activities
- Consult with educational teams to ensure accessibility and appropriate accommodations for students with hearing loss
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions
- Provide service at multiple sites, adjusting to updates in schedules or assignments throughout the full school year
