We are seeking a highly experienced Corporate Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations of all three companies. This is a senior leadership position that reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for ensuring the financial health, compliance, and operational efficiency of the organization.
This is not a bookkeeping position. We are looking for a CPA who enjoys building financial systems, improving processes, leading an accounting department, and providing strategic financial insight to ownership.
This is a full-time, in-office position. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
Position Summary
The Corporate Controller is responsible for all accounting, financial reporting, payroll, cash management, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls for three separate companies operating in the construction, transportation, logistics, equipment rental, and portable sanitation industries.
The Controller will supervise the Office Manager, oversee all accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide timely financial information and strategic recommendations to the CEO.
This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong leadership skills, and extensive experience in construction accounting, multi-company accounting, and financial management.
Primary ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership
- Serve as the senior financial leader for all three companies.
- Report directly to the CEO.
- Supervise and mentor the Office Manager.
- Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Develop systems that improve financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to ownership.
- Support strategic planning and long-term financial decision-making.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
Maintain complete accounting records for three separate legal entities using QuickBooks Online.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee all accounting operations.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Maintain three separate QuickBooks Online company files.
- Prepare monthly financial statements including:
- Profit & Loss Statements
- Balance Sheets
- Statements of Cash Flow
- Complete monthly account reconciliations.
- Review and approve journal entries.
- Perform month-end and year-end closings.
- Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements for banking relationships.
- Coordinate annual tax preparation and audits with outside CPA firms.
- Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Payroll Administration
Oversee payroll for all companies.
Belcastro Construction Management
- Process payroll using Payroll4Construction
- Union payroll
- Certified payroll reporting

- Process payroll using Gusto

Revenue Management & Accounts Receivable
Ensure all revenue generated through operational software is invoiced correctly and recorded daily in QuickBooks Online.
CB Logistics
Responsible for accounting related to:
- SAP Business One (Procurement)
- Rose Rocket (Transportation)
- Extensive (Storage Management)
Responsibilities include:
- Verify all billable transactions are invoiced.
- Record every customer invoice individually into QuickBooks Online.
- Ensure every procurement purchase has a corresponding customer invoice.
- Track outstanding procurement costs awaiting billing.
- Monitor transportation billing accuracy.
- Monitor warehouse and storage billing.
- Investigate and resolve missing invoices.
- Prevent revenue leakage.
Ayard Rentals / Tinkle Town
Responsible for accounting related to:
- ServiceCore (Portable Restroom Services)
- Point of Rental (Equipment Rentals & Re-Rentals)
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure invoices are imported into QuickBooks daily.
- Verify all completed work is billed.
- Monitor rental contracts.
- Track re-rental costs.
- Investigate missing invoices.
- Ensure no services or rentals remain unbilled.
Belcastro Construction Management
- Manage invoicing directly through QuickBooks Online.
- Monitor project billing.
- Track contract receivables.
- Monitor project profitability.
- Assist with project cost reporting.
Accounts Payable
- Manage vendor payment processes.
- Ensure vendor invoices are properly coded.
- Maintain vendor records.
- Reconcile vendor statements.
- Monitor payment schedules.
- Manage subcontractor compliance documentation.
Fleet Financial Management
CB Logistics and Ayard Rentals both operate transportation fleets.
The Controller will monitor and analyze:
- Fuel costs
- Maintenance expenses
- Repairs
- Registration and licensing
- Insurance costs
- Cost per mile
- Fleet profitability
- Equipment utilization
- Vehicle replacement planning
Construction Accounting & Compliance
Our companies perform substantial work within the construction industry.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare monthly conditional and unconditional lien waivers/releases.
- Track project receivables.
- Maintain subcontractor compliance records.
- Ensure compliance with customer contract requirements.
- Monitor project profitability.
- Assist with job costing.
Public Works Compliance
Many projects require prevailing wage and public agency reporting.
The Controller will be responsible for:
- Monthly public works payment reporting.
- Reporting payments received.
- Reporting payments made.
- Compliance with agency reporting requirements.
- Certified payroll oversight.
- Prevailing wage compliance documentation.
Sales & Use Tax
Responsible for:
- Monthly sales tax prepayments.
- Quarterly sales tax filings.
- Sales tax reconciliations.
- Multi-company compliance.
- Maintaining supporting documentation.
Banking & Cash Management
- Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements for lenders.
- Maintain banking relationships.
- Monitor loan covenant compliance.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor company liquidity.
- Reconcile all bank accounts.
- Assist with financing requests.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis
Prepare and maintain:
- Annual operating budgets.
- Department budgets.
- Cash flow forecasts.
- Financial forecasts.
- Profitability analyses.
- KPI dashboards.
- Budget variance reports.
- Executive financial reports.
Provide recommendations that improve profitability and operational performance.
Internal Controls
Develop and maintain systems that ensure:
- Financial accuracy.
- Revenue capture.
- Purchase-to-invoice reconciliation.
- Asset protection.
- Fraud prevention.
- Regulatory compliance.
- Accurate financial reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is required. Applicants without an active CPA license will not be considered.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager.
- Extensive experience managing multiple legal entities.
- Expert knowledge of QuickBooks Online.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP.
- Experience preparing consolidated financial statements.
- Experience managing payroll and payroll tax compliance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
