This position plays a vital role in the Meals on Wheels program, delivering nutritious meals to homebound adults and individuals with chronic health conditions or disabilities. By ensuring timely and accurate meal delivery, you’ll help clients maintain their independence, health, and dignity, right in the comfort of their own homes. In addition to delivering meals, this role provides a friendly face and a critical point of contact for wellness checks and referrals to other essential services. You may also assist with other tasks that support the Nutrition Program’s broader mission. Supervision is received from the Nutrition Manager and/or Home and Community Connections Director.

Minimum age 18 years

Possession of a valid driver’s license
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
A successful incumbent operating in this role displays the following:

Ability to maintain County Authorized Driver privileges

Ability to become certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED, or the ability to become First Aid, CPR, and AED certified within 6 months of hire
-
Ability to understand and follow written and spoken (English) instructions and travel directions

Ability to effectively respond to emergency situations and follow proper procedures

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public, with sensitivity to the needs and priorities of people who are elderly and/or have a disability

Accurate skills to properly complete required forms and reports
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:

Experience working with people who are elderly or have a disability

Experience driving minivans, trucks, small passenger buses or similar size vehicles
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly reach; frequently sit, walk, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, and drive; occasionally stoop and push up to 40 pounds; rarely crawl.

While working in this position, the employee is required to frequently work indoors, outdoors, on uneven ground, in dirty environments, near machinery, and chemicals; occasionally in hot (above 100 degrees) and cold (below 32 degrees).
